“My work is concerned with human emotions and experiences.  Real yet dreamlike scenarios – sometimes drawing on myth, fable, history and storytelling, sometimes drawing on the mundane – transform personal ideas into metaphors for the human condition, resulting in narrative, allegorical imagery that explores the human experience.”

Donna Mcglynn

Donna Mcglynn, Official Fire Station Creative Prints artist
Donna's solo exhibition "Thought and Memory" was held at Fire Station Creative in January/February 2018.
"My paintings are always narrative, they always have people in them, and I want people looking at them to ask 'what are these individuals up to?' even if it means 'filling in the blanks' for themselves"
Born in Arbroath, Scotland, Donna studied at Gray’s school of art in Aberdeen and went on to graduate with a BA (Hons) in fine art.  Since then she has exhibited in multiple juried exhibitions such as the BP Portrait Awards, The Morrison Portrait Awards, annual exhibitions at the Royal Scottish Academy and Royal Glasgow Institute and the Lynn Painter-Stainer’s Award at the Mall Galleries in London. Most recently, Donna’s work was included in the shortlist of the inaugural Scottish Portrait Awards in Edinburgh.

Since moving to Dunfermline in 2014 Donna has decided to become an artist full-time:
"I haven't gone out to work for five years and I've been able to paint full-time.  If I worked a salaried job - as opposed to the unpaid domestic work I do as a 'housewife' and mother - I wouldn't be painting, simple as that."
Donna currently works from a converted attic in her home in Dunfermline.
